I have been absent from posting for a couple of years now, life has gotten in the way as it likes to do from time to time. Our overland rig has changed 3 times in the last few years, but I think we are finally homing in on what works for us, but more on that and the purpose of this blog later.
So why a blog now even though it seems very early 2000’s? With retirement looming in the next few years, I will need something to sink my teeth into to keep me entertained. I feel like there is an interesting trend to go back to the written word for information, instead of a 6 second clip on some app. Remember when Instagram was just photos? Social media has certainly destroyed our attention spans, endless doom scrolling every 3 seconds to the point where I don’t think anyone is retaining much of anything. However, despite all the newspaper layoffs due to everything being online, there is a lack of true factual news minus all the sensational click bait that is so prevalent on online websites. I believe the tide is about to turn back to the written word. I’m not saying I won’t ever post a video, but I am going to kick things off with some good old-fashioned writing, and yes, to keep everyone entertained there will be photos. Also, I hate being on camera so that’s also part of my written word motivation.
I am aiming for the site to be largely overland gear reviews, diy projects, and some travel blogs thrown in here and there.
